When we encounter pain, rather than resisting or denying its existence, or attempting to suppress, evade, or control it forcefully, we can choose to approach it with understanding and compassion, transforming our relationship with discomfort.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) \u00a0is a form of psychological therapy derived from the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness. It\u00a0teaches a more suitable way to cope with emotions: rather than rushing to escape from pain, we can seek a comfortable space to observe and accept our thoughts and feelings. As the name implies, this approach encompasses two fundamental aspects: it promotes acceptance to lessen the impact of distressing thoughts and feelings, and it fosters a strong commitment to one&#8217;s values, encouraging behaviours that align with those values.
